Full disclosure
I strive to be as objective as possible, although in my book, that doesn’t mean I can’t call a cat, “a cat,” as we say in France. Just because some truths are uncomfortable doesn’t make them mere opinions. I also deplore that too many seem to equate transparency with ethical action: acknowledging one’s biases and affiliations doesn’t permit everything. However, here are mine.
I have worked at The Maneater (University of Missouri), The Columbia Missourian, ¡Adelante! (Columbia, Mo.), The Santa Cruz (Calif.) Sentinel and The Cambodia Daily (Phnom Penh). Employers of my student days were Le Grand Théâtre (Dijon, France), McDonald’s and countless parents of young children. I currently work at Rock Production (part of the Royal Group, Phnom Penh, Cambodia). None of the opinions expressed within reflect those of my current or former employers.
I am an alumna of the Lycée Carnot (Dijon, France), the University of Missouri and the Rotary International Youth Exchange Program. I am a member of the Kappa Tau Alpha honor society and was one of the Society of Professional Journalists. I’ll do my best to reveal my biases where they might influence my writing.
I am partial to strawberry tarts.
